"...most of the
prisoners threw away their revolvers when they retreated; haven't been lucky to
get a revolver... got nice Harper's Ferry musket... don't think I can carry
it... the Rangers have knives as large as cleavers, they throw them at the
enemy. Richmond Blues noted for skill in throwing knives... don't think Texas
Rangers are better than pirates if you see the weapons they intend to use you
would be of same opinion."
